More Trooper Dog Training Camp Blog
Trooper the 11 month old Golden Retriever continues to improve at his Multisports Dog Training Camp. He’s been doing really well on the leash, takes at least 2 long walks a day of a minimum of 45 minutes. There’s much training in between during camp, but that’s the minimum he needs for exercise on a daily basis once he goes home. He still struggles a bit when a big distraction comes along for him… biggest being another dog.
Trooper LOVES to play with other dogs. It’s great on one hand, a very friendly dog, but never the less the training continues to keep him focused even when another dog comes along. We’ve got video to show Troopers family what to do so they’ll have a constant reminder how to keep him going in the right direction.
Recall is the most important thing one should focus on with any dog. Trooper is doing awesome. He can do things like sit a side walk intersection and have me walk away, then call him to me. He’s doing so very well with it. Now the key is to keep doing that same exact thing with him every single time so that he’ll be able to do it even with another dog wildly trying to get his attention! He’s has some fabulous play time and has gone to the beach several times. That’s the best training grounds. Lots of distraction, lots of training, yet we are both having fun. Trooper’s mom and dad will be able to do the same with him now!
