Rent a Dog? Wrong. Train Your Dog. Your Best Friend.

There is a relatively new company here in San Diego that actually rents dogs to people. Yep, that’s what I said. You can rent a dog.

What a travesty in my personal opinion. I work with people all the time to get consistency with their own dogs. Since dogs do think and learn in pictures, if there isn’t consistency in those pictures it’s a VERY confusing world for a dog. Besides that fact, I deal with a lot of people who entirely miss the signs of a dog in distress, or with anxiety, fear, or just over excited. Imagine what kind of wild “theories” will come out of these people who are “renting” a dog for the day. Sad.

The great thing for me is that I do get to meet many people that are committed to their own dog. Take the case of Zane. Like most of us, he didn’t always know how to act perfectly, but the commitment of his owner in getting him some really great training, and working with him every day he will come around to being a well behaved dog. He’s already a really great dog.

The bond between Zane and his owner only becomes stronger with the practice of the training every day. It’s really about spending time and having the commitment to the relationship.

It’s quite rewarding for all of us.
