Dog Friendly Beaches Parks & Off Leash Fun Dog Stuff
Living in San Diego means outdoor activity. Beaches, parks, San Diego Chargers, San Diego Padres which goes along with apple pie & the family dog! Dog ownership is huge in San Diego in part to the many outdoor activities as well as dog friendly places there are to go. If you live in San Diego, have a dog and haven’t been to a Dog Beach… well, you surely need to get out more!
Even while living in San Diego with the parks & beaches right out the back door, many times we still as humans get caught up in the hustle bustle of every day life and forget to find the cool places to get out with your dog… in a leash free environment. During Dog Training Camps at K9 Coach we are real advocates of being able to take your dog out off leash and be completely comfortable even in a new area. The whole point is to be able to have a dog that has a great time with you, can be off leash and will come back no matter what comes up between your and your dog!
We love to go to new areas so that your dog can understand what it means to come back some other place that from the back yard, or the same old dog park you go to every week. Its fun for your dog and it ends up being the best for you as you will get to get out, get some exercise, enjoy all that San Diego has to offer and have a really great time with your dog.
If you are looking for some cool new dog friendly off leash places to take your dog, here are some of our favorites.
Fiesta Island is large sandy Island which is part of Mission Bay. Dogs can be off leash and have tons of sand dunes and the small easy waves that roll in off of Mission Bay creating a perfect beach to run freely on. Dogs who love to get in the water love it hanging out at Fiesta Island.
Dog Beach – Ocean Beach
The original Dog Beach and one of the most popular places to take your dog. Dog Beach is located at the west end of the San Diego River Floodway in northern Ocean Beach. Locals call it the Ocean Beach Flood Control Channel. With plenty of room for romping and lots of sand, this is a way cool place to bring your dog and have a great time leash free.
Dogs can go off leash on the east side of Balboa Park, at the northwest end of the tennis courts. Another activity located at Morley Field is a disc golf course where you can play for a small fee and bring your dog with you. Its a pretty cool deal.
Dogs can be off leash at the most Northern end next to the Naval Air Station on Ocean Blvd near Sunset Park. People come to Coronado for a day or a weekend retreat with many beautiful beach sunsets and a place to play with their dogs.
Dog Beach – Del Mar
This the North County San Diego place to bring your dog, but beware that it is seasonal and leash free for dogs September to June. During the summer months there is an area where you can keep your dog on leash but know that you will certain be ticketed for an off leash dog during June to mid September!
