Teaching your dog to retrieve will insure that basic obedience is achieved. Reason being, to teach a retrieve, and that means your dog will go pick something up, a ball, a stick, or some object when you ask every time, not when your dog decides to “play” with the ball…. on any account reason being your dog will truly understand the concept of learning a skill by being taught a very clear retrieve.
